New program removes barriers for attendees and strengthens Bentonville’s reputation as a welcoming destination

As National Deaf Awareness Month comes to a close, Visit Bentonville is ensuring that accessibility continues year-round with the launch of its new  ASL Interpreter Grant. This first-of-its-kind program in Arkansas provides funding for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter services at meetings, conferences and events, removing barriers for attendees and positioning Bentonville as a leader in inclusive tourism.

One grant has been awarded to support ASL interpretation for “Together We Ride: A local documentary screening & community conversation” at Skylight Cinema on Sept. 25. By offering financial support and direct connections to professional interpreters, Visit Bentonville is providing meeting planners and event organizers with a valuable resource that sets the destination apart, while demonstrating Bentonville’s commitment to making accessibility a top priority for events that drive tourism.

"True hospitality means working to create better access for everyone. With the ASL Interpreter Grant, we're taking steps to ensure more attendees have the opportunity to connect, learn, and fully experience Bentonville," said Kalene Griffith, president and CEO of Visit Bentonville. "Inclusivity is a priority for us. This grant reflects our ongoing commitment as a community and as a destination to make progress on accessibility wherever we can contribute."

The program underscores Visit Bentonville’s vision of becoming a premier destination for inclusive events, giving planners confidence that their meetings and conferences will provide meaningful experiences for every attendee.
