BENTONVILLE, Ark. (March 18, 2026) — Two major sporting events held in Bentonville this February drew athletes, coaches, and families from across Arkansas and surrounding states, reinforcing Bentonville’s role as a premier destination for competitive sports.

The Alvy Early Memorial Classic returned to Bentonville, with NCAA Division II softball teams competing at Memorial Park and Bentonville High School. The tournament was hosted through a partnership involving Bentonville Parks and Recreation, Visit Bentonville, and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The field included 21 teams from seven states, competing throughout the weekend and bringing hundreds of athletes and supporters to the region.

“Bentonville Parks and Recreation is proud to provide high-quality parks, trails and public spaces that enhance the quality of life for our community,” said David Wright, director of Bentonville Parks and Recreation. “Through our partnership with Visit Bentonville, we’re able to bring events to facilities like Memorial Park and the Bentonville Community Center that benefit local businesses and showcase these spaces to visitors from across the region.”

The Arkansas 6A State Swim & Dive Championship followed at the Bentonville Community Center’s state-of-the-art competition pool, where the state’s top high school swimmers and divers competed for Arkansas Activities Association titles. The meet welcomed 209 athletes from across the state, further demonstrating Bentonville’s capacity to successfully host large-scale scholastic athletics.

Hosting tournaments and championships at this scale reflects Bentonville’s continued investment in attracting visitors and strengthening the local tourism economy.

“Events like these represent more than athletic achievement,“ said Amy Springer, Sports Sales Manager with Visit Bentonville. “They bring visitors to our community, support local businesses, and reflect the strong partnerships that make it possible to host athletic events at every level.”

In total, February’s softball tournament and state swim and dive championship generated nearly $1 million in economic impact for Bentonville, including approximately $739,000 from the Alvy Early Memorial Classic and $206,000 from the Arkansas State Swim & Dive Championship, driven by visitor spending across lodging, dining, retail, and local transportation.
